Frequently Asked Questions

What is a PDF or digital pattern?

A PDF or digital pattern is file that you purchase and download, open and print at home from your computer and on your own printer. PDF stands for Portable Document Format, meaning a safe and easy way to share information on any computer system. Our PDF patterns are a full size, multi-sized pattern that has been prepared in a way that you can print off at home and tile the individual sheets together to make up the full size pattern.

What's included in my purchase?

You’ll receive a .zip file that contains several PDF files inside – Sewing Instructions, Print at Home pattern + Print Shop/Large Format version (2015 and later Pattern releases only).

The sewing instructions and print at home pattern are formatted to be printed on either International A4 or US letter standard printer paper.

We include a Print shop /Large format version formatted for International A0 size paper. Most copy/print shops can print these for a few dollars, just remember to advise them that no page scale or printing at 100% is very important!

How do I pay for my purchase

We use a Paypal hosted checkout to complete the purchase. While you can pay with your Paypal account, you don’t need a Paypal account to purchase as most major credit cards are accepted.

How do I download the files?

When you purchase a pattern or two from us,  you are given a unique url to download your pattern. This link to download is provided in an confirmation email upon completing checkout. You can also access your download by clicking the link in the website order confirmation page.

This unique URL will allow 4 download attempts, after which your link will expire. If you are having trouble downloading your files please get in touch via the contact page, or reply to your order email.

All PDF products will automatically download to your computer’s downloads folder unless you have manually set a unique destination. No additional windows will open during this process.

I didn't receive a confirmation email?

An email will be sent to you straight away after checkout. In the rare occasion that you don’t receive one, please check your spam folder. Some email providers such as Hotmail, are especially bad at marking genuine emails as spam.

Checked your spam but still no email from us? Please contact us to let us know and we’ll get right on to it.

why is the pattern not opening on my iPad / Tablet / Smart phone?

Because our pattern files are downloaded as a .zip file that contains multiple PDF’s, most portable devices lack the ability to read, open and print file contained within a .zip archive. Please download, open and print from a computer.

How do I print my pattern?

To print our digital patterns you will need a PDF viewer. We recommend using Adobe Reader as it gives constant results across both MAC and PC. You can download Adobe Reader for free (https://get.adobe.com/reader/). You’ll want to make sure your printer is stocked up with plenty of paper.

Find and open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat, print the file and in the print options dialogue box, please check your print settings to ensure you’re printing the pages at 100%, no page scaling or fit to page. Printers will often slightly reduce the size to better fit the page, but patterns must be printed at the actual size in the PDF document.

When printed out at the correct size, the layout grid should measure 2.5cm or 1” square.
Our patterns are able to be printed on both A4 and US letter sized paper.

What do I do with all these pages?

Trim the printed sheets to the rectangle box on one side and either the top or the bottom. Match up the sheets using the markers to make up the full-size pattern. Tape sheets together to secure.

Help I've lost / can't find my pattern files?

We recommend saving your pattern files somewhere easy to find straight away + backing them up! Just like physical belongings please look after your digital purchases in the same way. We provide you with 4 download attempts so that you have every opportunity to download, store + save your pattern purchases. After these 4 downloads have been used up, we are really sorry but we can’t provide you with another opportunity to download.

What is your returns policy?

Due to the nature of digital files, all sales are final and purchases cannot be returned or refunded. Please read the listing descriptions carefully and make sure you understand what you are purchasing and that no physical pattern will be shipped to you.

If for any reason you are not happy with the pattern you receive, please contact us and let us know how we can fix the problem and we’ll do our best to help.

Once again, no. Our patterns are not suitable for garment production. There are a several reasons why home sewing patterns should not be used to produce a commercial range of garments.
